Inspire Me
INSPIRE ME is an award program and concert series created by Theo Steckler, produced by Mike Matsuno, coordinated by Tao Meng, and hosted by Osaka Gakuin University’s International Center. It brings to the university young Japanese performing artists who have achieved something outstanding in their careers so they can tell their stories, perform for the students and the Osaka Gakuin community and encourage them to follow their dreams. The Following Artists Are Performers In Our Professional Division
Akihiro Tanaka
World Champion Guitarist, Akihiro is a huge star in the world of music, especially in China, Korea, and Russia where he draws tens of thousands of fans. He was twice a guest artist for us, appearing first in Henry IV, then again in our 2011 Winter Concert Young Artists Live.
Drakskip
Considered to be one of the top three new bands in Japan playing ‘serious’ music, Drakskip is a phenomenon on Japan’s burgeoning music scene. Comprised of four supremely talented musicians, they play a unique blend of world music influenced by Northern Europe. Drakskip gives well over a hundred and fifty performances a year throughout Japan as well as overseas. Drakskip was featured in our 2011 Winter Concert Young Artists Live.
Satoko Tanaka
A young opera singer based in Kansai, Satoko is a ‘favorite’ with all our members. With a sweet and delicate voice that’s powerful enough to fill the largest concert hall, Satoko frequently performs in the Osaka area as a soloist. For NTYA she performed to great acclaim the role of Mrs. Corney in our production of OLIVER.
Takahiro Fujii
Awarded the gold medal in the prestigious International Chopin Piano Competition In Asia for his virtuoso piano playing, there is nothing that Takahiro cannot do on a keyboard. He is perfectly at home in any genre be it classical, jazz, or pop. Besides composing and performing with his own jazz band, Trident, Takahiro also works as a studio musician for Japanese record companies playing keyboard on the albums of top Japanese recording artists. As a performer in residence with the Ashiya International Ballet Company, Takahiro literally explodes onto stages throughout Japan and abroad.
クラシックピアノを元吉明子氏に師事、音楽理論や作編曲、ジャズを始めとするアドリブ奏法などを独学で学ぶ。
これまで国内のライブイベントやミュージックフェスティバルを始め、ニューヨーク・ワイルリサイタルホールなどの海外公演にも参加。自身の演奏やソロアルバムのリリースなどの活動のほか、ポップスアーティストのコンサートやCDレコーディングにも多数参加。また演奏のみならず歌手への楽曲提供や舞台プロデュースを手がけるなど幅広く活動。
現在、AIS国際バレエにて音楽部門を担当。
クラシックの分野においては、第9回ショパン国際コンクールIN ASIAアマチュアソロA部門金賞、第3回全日本税術ピアノコンクールC部門2位など各賞を受賞。
